Artists On The Watchlist for Rights ConfirmationUpdated a year ago

Confirming Rights for High-Profile Artists

Major music platforms maintain a list of very popular artists whose names require additional rights verification before distribution. If your release includes one of these artists, platforms will block the content until we verify that you have the necessary distribution rights. This block is directly done by the music platforms.

To proceed, we’ll need a copy of the signed artist agreement to confirm your collaboration with the specified artist. Platforms require this proof to verify your rights, which can cause a delay in publishing.

Required Documentation for Rights Verification: Make sure all documentation is complete to prevent further delays. Documents should include:

  • Identification details for all parties, including legal names and addresses.
  • Details on compensation, including contract work specifications.
  • Specifics on the content covered (e.g., song title, release date).

Handling Name Similarities with Popular Artists

If a collaborator shares the same name as a popular artist but is a different individual, let us know. We can notify platforms that the artist is either a new profile or different from the established artist with the same name.

NOTE: The verification process may take up to six weeks.
